Who Are Linux Desktop Users? An OTB Ramble
Desktop Linux still has less than 3% of the market. So if we are ever to increase that percentage we need to understand just who the current desktop users actually are.
In this long and winding ramble – you have been warned – I take the viewer through the journey that my mind has wandered through over the last few months.
I start by creating and expanding on a theoretical typology to describe the characteristics of different types of user.
This is not meant to reflect actual people. Rather, it is a set of categories that many of us will recognise, even though we may belong to several.
It’s equally possible that I’ve missed important categories that should perhaps have been included here.
However, please see this as a playful attempt to understand rather than anything ‘scientific’. Put bluntly, it’s a bit of fun
This is followed up by a channel update, a discussion of some weirdness that has recently happened to the channel, and finally, the introduction of my GitLab repo.
