The Upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard
Often running a newer OS on an older system can result in a significant performance drop that greatly affects its usability. As a result, many people are cautious to upgrade their Macs running Mac OS X v10.4 « Tiger » to v10.6 « Snow Leopard ».
In this video, I compare the performance of several aspects of the user interface and boot times of Tiger and Snow Leopard, giving current Tiger users an idea of how their Mac may perform running Snow Leopard.
The computer used is a 17″ Late 2006 iMac with the following spec’s:
– 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 1 GB RAM (This is the minimum RAM required for Snow Leopard)
– 128 MB of VRAM
Snow Leopard requires a Macintosh computer with an Intel processor and at least 1 GB of RAM. To comply with the licence agreement for Snow Leopard, Tiger uses must purchase the Mac Box Set, which includes iLife ’11 and iWork ’09.
I hope this video can assist your decision to upgrade. In my opinion, the upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS X Snow Leopard it is definitely worthwhile.
