Businesses are bracing for breaches for today’s CISO Saturday Security Story. 70% of them are bracing for a cyber attack in the coming year. So says Proofpoint’s, Voice of the CISO. And out of that, 43% feel unprepared. The reasons? Hybrid and remote workforce and employee turnover is becoming an issue. Speaking of humans, human error is the top cause for data loss. Whether giving it to Gen AI or outright sabotage or just being ill informed. Now the top threat? 41% say ransomware. And out of that, 67% say they’ll pay the ransom. Even though a clean offsite backup is the best antidote for ransomware and, 66% feel burned out. They have a seat at the board now, but they’re also facing the pressure, including potential arrest from the SEC.
