Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI model) Part 4
Hello everyone
My name is Jaiveer in this video I am going to discuss OSI model (Open Systems Interconnection) is a crucial framework for comprehending how computer networks function. In this video, we break down the seven layers of the OSI model, demystifying their roles and interactions.
Application Layer (Layer 7): This is where applications and users communicate. Think of it as the gateway for email protocols like SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).
Presentation Layer (Layer 6): Data formatting happens here, ensuring the receiving application understands it. Encryption and decryption are also part of this layer.
Session Layer (Layer 5): Responsible for establishing and terminating connections between devices.
Transport Layer (Layer 4): Ensures error handling, sequencing, and reliable data transfer. It also adds source and destination port numbers.
Network Layer (Layer 3): Handles IP address routing, adding source and destination IP addresses to the data.
Data Link Layer (Layer 2): Adds physical addresses (MAC addresses) to the data.
Physical Layer (Layer 1): Carries data across physical hardware (like Ethernet cables).
