Highly Efficient Ham Radio QRP Antenna for 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m Bands
A highly efficient QRP antenna with minimal footprint that works well with a 6 metre freestanding fibreglass mast. (No trees required!)
– Inverted L configuration with a single support
– Easily erected by one person
– Low cost, lIghtweight and very portable
– Ideal for SOTA, POTA or any portable operation
– No ATU needed. Antenna works with low VSWR across HF bands
– VSWR — typically 1.3:1
– Low loss so Ideal for QRP
– Low windage so good for SOTA summit situations
My thanks to Colin, MM0OPX for his excellent work to design and optimise the QRP 64:1 UnUn used for this antenna. Check out his site!
Thanks also to SOTABEAMS for their continued support of the QRP Portable community with their range of antenna masts and associated kit.
This is a shortish 11 minute video that shows both the antenna components and how to assemble and erect the antenna ‘in the field’ in real time.
I subsequently went on to work numerous stations around the world using my KX2 running 5 watts both on CW and SSB.
This is an excellent lightweight and efficient antenna system — good enough to be your main HF bands QRP antenna should you so choose.
