What is #GSM module sim900a?

The SIM900A is a complete Dual-band GSM/GPRS solution in a SMT module which can be embedded in the customer applications allowing you to benefit from small dimensions and cost-effective solutions.Featuring an industry-standard interface, the #SIM900A delivers GSM/GPRS 900/1800MHz performance for voice, SMS, Data and lots more.

What is GSM 900a?

GSM/GPRS Modem-RS232 is built with Dual Band GSM/GPRS engine SIM900A, works on frequencies 900/ 1800 MHz. The Modem is coming with RS232 interface, which allows you connect PC as well as microcontroller with RS232 Chip(MAX232). It is suitable for SMS, Voice as well as DATA transfer application in M2M interface.

Does sim900 support 4g?

First of all if you are in USA you cannot use SIM 900A since it support only Dual frequency bands.(900,1800 MHz)it supports only Asian region countries. Considering about the speed you cannot obtain 3g, 4G speed since gsm Shield(sim900a) provides maximum of GPRS class 10: max.

What are AT commands in GSM?

That’s why modem commands are called AT commands. Many of the commands that are used to control wired dial-up modems, such as ATD (Dial), ATA (Answer), ATH (Hook control) and ATO (Return to online data state), are also supported by GSM/GPRS modems and mobile phones.
