A First Look At Damn Small Linux
In This Video We Are Looking At Damn Small Linux (DSL) 2024-rc4 announced.
A live CD Linux distribution based on Debian and Knoppix. After a 12-year break (from 2012 to 2024), the Damn Small Linux project, known as Damn Small Linux, has been restarted as a DSL project. It is stated that the distribution is now based on Debian and antiX, with the goal of fitting on live media of 700 MB or less (so that it can be used in CD-ROM drives). Trying to have a functional and easy-to-use desktop despite its small size, the system has an almost complete desktop package, including office software, email client, PDF viewer, media players and FTP/SFTP client. It is stated that the Damn Small Linux (DSL) project has published a new development snapshot of the upcoming Damn Small Linux 2024 version, while the new version that updates the Dillo web browser is said to restore some missing icons and improve language support. Dillo has been compiled and updated to the much improved version 3.1.0. Icons have been removed from both the Fluxbox and JWM menus to reduce load and visual space; German, French, Spanish Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are said to have been added.
