IPv4 lessons: the types of network communication in IPv4
1.Unicast
2.Multicast
3.Broadcast.
There is no broadcast in IPv6.
The types of network communication in IPv6 are Unicast, Multicast & Anycast.
Details:
~~Unicast
~~ type of communication where data is sent via 1 computer to another computer. Unicast is a one-to-one type of network communications
Different data streams are generated for each Unicast connection. This type of communication is the option when clients need different data (one sender, & one receiver)
[i e.. IPv6 Unicast type of network communication]:
A) Browsing a website. (Webserver is the sender & your computer is the receiver).
B) Downloading a file via FTP Server. (FTP Server is the sender & our computer is the receiver.)

♦️Types of network communication in IPv4 are Unicast, Multicast and Broadcast. **There are no broadcast in IPv6.

♦️What is Unicast?
~~Type of communication where data is sent from one computer to another computer. Unicast is a 1-to-1 type of network communication. Different data streams are generated for each Unicast connection. This type of communication is the option when clients need different data from network server.
♦️In Unicast type of communication, there is only one sender, and only one receiver.
♦️Example for IPv6 Unicast type of network .
♦️Note: data streams are created for different clients in IPv6 Unicast type of communication.
♦️Multicast:
~~ type of communications where multicast traffic addressed for a group of devices on the network. IPv6 multicast traffic are sent to a group & only members of that group receive the Multicast traffic.
♦️Devices which show interest in a particular Multicast traffic must join to the Multicast group to receive the traffic. IPv6 Multicast Groups are identified via IPv6 Multicast Addresses.
♦️In Multicast, the sender transmits only a copy of data & it is deliverable to many devices (Not all devices as in IPv4 Broadcast) who show interest in the traffic.
Broadcast
♦️The role of the broadcast IP address is to connect devices with 1 another on a network
♦️An IP address fulfills 2 main tasks: host or network interface identification & location addressing. Via Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) defines an IP address as a 32-bit number.
