It was the first Macintosh equipped with a SCSI port, which allowed users to connect many external peripherals (such as hard drives, scanners, printers, CD-ROM drives, monitors, and more), the first Macintosh to offer the ability to expand memory.
The Macintosh Plus was equipped with the new 3.5″ floppy drive capable of handling double-sided DS-DD (Double-Sided, Double Density).
The Macintosh Plus remained on the market for nearly 5 years, making it the longest life Macintosh model ever produced by Apple.
