The surface line of devices shows that Microsoft can be as assertive as Apple. They just need to get it together!

Apple can have a performance advantage. I think some people like content creators can switch platforms because of that.

I am a power user at Work. I use a high end Windows Workstation.

I have a laptop at home. It's a 2 year old Intel i5 based laptop. I rarely use it but keep it for when I need to use a personal computer.

3 to 5 years down the line, when it's time to replace my laptop, it's possible that I may switch to Mac.

Today, Mac costs a lot more than a PC. If the difference that day is only 20 to 30 percent, I may as well switch to Mac.

I beleive there are a lot of casual users like me who keep a laptop for light use and don't care a lot about the OS. Such users may switch to a Mac, if Apple plays nice.

Once I'm in Apple's walled garden, they will have the opportunity to sell me more.

I thought you’d mention the possibility to Windows on Arm on the new Apple hardware. The hardware DEV kit is $500. What happens if that’s the actual price of the cheapest ARM mac?

Windows has to be re-written for ARM from scratch to run as FAST as on x86 chips.
but if Microsoft makes a CORE arm-architect-kernel, x86-architect-kernel, RISC-V-architect-kernel to be the core of Windows, then all they have to do is make the GUI & Apps use whatever kernel is provided and just run on that kernel, without any code change in the App or GUI (universal binary).

Write GUI & Apps once, but can run on any Architecture they have a <*>-architect-kernel for.
