I don’t have the slightest doubt that private silicon will be an even more closed system, something you can generally depend on with Apple. There is no way they would invest the billions needed to take this step if they didn’t plan to monetize it through control and exclusion.

Will Final Cut Pro will integrate the Neural Engine in both the iPhone and the soon to arrive Apple Silicon computers (with its own Neural Engine) to do automatic tasks. Creating a tight integration with the iPhone Camera and Editor with machine learning?Using the Neural Engines for an end to end solution to
do these things automatically, such as… XML Labelling, Object Recognition, Face Detection & Recognition, Depth Analysis with new (Lidar camera), Text to Speech captioning, Auto Colour Grading and Live Content Moderation. Creating a simpler but more intuitively powerful editor?

Apple is killing two birds with one stone with their apple soc based macbooks plan. 1: Dependency on intel chips, 2: hackintosh community. Plus more profit for apple.

Anyone remember the old days when there was the PowerMac, G3, G4, Super G5? The CPU chipset then was designed to accommodate the OS, instead of the other way around like they've been doing with the Intel garbage since 2006… This "New Approach" is actually nothing new at all… It is a practice that Apple should've NEVER abandoned in the first place! Lesson finally learned… Kudos to Apple and the return of the old ways with ASi ARM!

Should I get the new Macbook Pro 13 2020, or wait for next year to get the ARM based macbook?

Apple made the smart move here. Apple is trying to make a universal (ISA) for their product line up vs x86 that creates fragment in the largest markets now. Apple is being at the right place at the right time movement just like they did with the iPhone and iPad. Now creating their own in house ISA across their product lines without ANSWERING to anyone while also staying ahead of the aging x86. Funny how people claim Apple is doing this to have a wall garden when in fact it’s the total opposite here. X86 would also be a wall garden as well I guess because the real debate here is CISC vs RISC not wall gardens. Risc gives power to software developers while CISC gives it to the hardware developers. This is about instruction set wars as it was in the 80s. AMD and Intel not keeping up with the demand with the rest of the world will finally put Risc on the winning side of this repeat of history.

He didn’t mention reusing their chips means more profits for Apple. This was expected. Only benchmark tests will show us if it’s better.

ARM wont outperform x86….false claims..Its just not designed to such high load apps…4 bytes instruction limit..Large libraries..Small cache..Slow compilers..Overall bad support in software segment….Mobile ? ok…Desktop ? forget it…*Ryzen laughing in background*
