Question: How Do I Protect Against a DDoS Attack Against My D-Link DIR-615 Router?

Recently somebody (or a group of somebodies) has found my IP address and have begun to DDoS me for the past two weeks
I can’t use a VPN because it slows my internet down way too much (and they already have my IP so I don’t think it would help anyways)
I have tried to change my IP through various methods but I had no success at all.
I tried to ipconfig release and renew in the cmdprompt, I tried to DHCP Release then DHCP Renew, I tried to set my DHCP lease time lower then disconnect for that ammount of time.
I tried to clone my pc’s mac address in the Manual Internet Connection Setup which was something somebody recommended to do for my specific router and after I did that my computer couldn’t connect at all.
I tried holding the reset button down and setting up a new network many different times and none of them worked. My IP is dynamic, and my router is a D-Link DIR-615.
I use a wireless adapter on my computer to connect to the internet, I do have a modem connected and my ISP is Brighthouse.
Is there any sure-fire solution to this besides disconnecting my internet for a certain period of time? Is there a setting or program that you know about that can block attacks?
Or at the very least, do you know why my IP won’t change?

DDOS IS (botnet) (Zombie master) more than 100 (bots). Turn off echo request protocol port 7 coming in. Your router's nic buffers can't handle the icmp packets. you getting a ping of death 65000bytes ipv4. ping of Death can also have malicious script placed in to automatically retrieve no external ip address from the over the perimeter of the router side. you have a internal ip address but assigned by a dhcp and with a dns you can't get on to the internet. so the best thing to do is to disable the port 7 in coming to stop ddos or dos.

Why you doubt about that he's being under ddos attack?
There are so many sites around the internet that would take down any home network just for five dollars per month.
btw, your answer was annoying and so useless.

NETGEAR is now Made in CHINA, its very questionable. Logs show it dos flood arp dns the Network way tooo much. BTW I can Flood my router(skaes his head) docsis 3.0 1.9 I have a business Cisco and love it Made int he USA 30 years, and yes has alotttttttttt more support. Can I forward all setting thru to the cisco, then Use cisco as the Router, I know how but will it over ride the NETGEAR(COX Communicattions) you be suprised how many ISPs dont cover Routers or Port forwarding/Triggering. BTW if you buy NETGEAR you have 3 months of support for Lifetime, and the have accents. Love PANDA Internet security 2016 ya will be seeing what show in my logs. The game I will be helping with IS Very likely to be flooded. I am working on Updating software however NOt having any volunteers. useful tools NetTools 5.0 read the eula agreement. The nubs know how to get around IPSEC too. After Update is done itll run on anything((pascal/Delphi) Guys this is the right place to get a good start—- if you look at Microsoft Help on Visualstudion 2015 community I added the FIX to the Installer to make it STOP(stop responding) 2003 server 32 bit support 64gigs memory and reverse dns into that nasty Trojan, Hey 3rd option includes Apache and slows them down all Hackers big and small, setup registration on webpage, but think itll run on another PC so secure PC and website(more security) Thinking WordPress might be good I hear

    Merry Christmas Eli and everyone

Eli have you ever played PS3?? Yea I don't think so. There this modders/hackers who sniff your IP address with their computers and start causing so much traffic to your IP address. At that you have to restart your router. BUT!! You have this modders who use a botnet which kicked you out your router and you cannot connect wire or wireless to your router settings or even reset it because your signals are going on and off. So you have to call your ISP to clear off the traffic, signal lapses and re synchronize your damn equipment!!! It is freakin common Eli!!!

Lol. See, get dd-wrt (e3). Make sure you don't have open ports, make sure you have your firewall on… Next. DHCP, you can easily reset that. Haha. But come I have problems, I need a new router, (for hosting). I have had a good time but it lacks, wifi, and cheap AF. But you can easily dump your router

Everyone's mixing up the dDOS with Deauth. Most don't know the diff. It appears your subscriber needs to know how to prevent a wireless deauth attack on the un-encrypted management frames. Short answer, nothing other 802.11w or an adaptive router mac addy randomizer which the stn's would need to sync to. All Deauth attacks rely on mac's…not i/p's !!!!!!

Dude quit being so condescending about the DDos attack, it is actually very common for anyone who tries to stream on twtich, too many people don't know how easy is for anyone to get somebody else IP adress bu simply sharing a link on twitch streaming.

The IF, if and if and this is a big if you are being hit by a DDos, dude don't be so condescending, I'm a shitty streamer with 8 views and I made one single mistake and those assholes discovered my IP adress, now I can't stream at all, because every time I do so, they be like "oh you are back" and good bye my internet.

It’s not true that Ddos attacks aren’t common. If you go on PSN or Xbox and get invited to a party, someone can simply grab your IP using LANC and then ddos using a website. (Most of which have been seized but some still linger)

regarding HP you are so right, but why didn't I see this video before a year ago when I bought my HP. I have a critical question for me, what is the threshold of packets number crossing the channel to a server, that if a server received more or beyond this threshold it will stop and get DoS/DDoS attacked????

Why is this guy so skeptical about Ddos-ing? A brain damaged Neanderthal could do it (probably the most likely too as well). You spend an extended amount of time online you'll run into it.

After being hacked.. and still going thru it.. I'd have to say I'd assume it was a hacker.. especially after doing the normal troubleshooting.. and still having issues..

With millions of tutorials, files, prewritten commands and scripts vs 3 to 4 youtube videos on how to reverse all of those millions of attacks.. and the common lack of knowledge by the average person.
I'd have to say we shouldn't downplay the threat of hackers.. thats why the average person is on the losing side of this game right now. Only learning when it happens to them.. and IF, if they do learn anything, they're still years behind the newest exploits..

When an attacker mentions something you said over a text from your phone that wasn't connected to your wifi at the time.
The chills that run down your spine, the feeling the average internet user would call the authorities to report a cybercrime over.. thats a feeling like no other.
