Playing Crab Attack – a classic Macintosh game I wrote 33 years ago.
Back in 1989, while in high school, my brother and I created a game for the Macintosh called « Crab Attack II ». My brother did much of the pixel art work, and I wrote the code for the game. We uploaded it onto a few local BBSs and then pretty much forgot about it.
Years later, out of idle curiosity, I decide to search online for the game at various archive sites, expecting to find that it’s been lost forever. Instead, I find that it’s been archived at multiple classic software sites and is generally well regarded. And it can still be played on an emulator today.
Join me for a bit of nostalgia as I learn that the game my brother and I made as teenagers is a lot more complex and difficult than I remembered.
