Good result with that one Richard, I've got one of those myself and its a good little rig, whenever I get given a radio it's always a variant of the Great 858/868 chassis, an old 40 ch AM or a JWR m2 converted to 10 meters, I've also been taking advantage of the good weather and been out in the garden stripping off and re-painting a few radio cases with good results.

Those were good sets for their size, biggest problem with them was the channel change switch. They were made from a thin plastic wafers instead of hard plastic and the tracks lifted and got damaged with a lot of use, sometimes not that log a use either. But I suppose everything was that much smaller and the bigger channel change switch was bigger than the set. I had to change a lot of those!

Hi richard I have been doing repairs on radios and the odd lcd tv for years " even vacuum tube stuff, Well I acquired a couple of cb's of late and I thought I would have a go at CB servicing. When I am peeking the receive coils what frequency do I feed in to the CB on cha 20? I have had to buy a 60mhz signal generator as my old 20mhz one for 465 & 10.7 aint good enough, but my scope is still okay at 50mhz and a old 20mhz analog hameg scope. I do have quite a bit of equipment but lacking a sinad meter and I have looked high and low (apart from the states who wants $120 or $150 p&p. If you do here of any Please let me know and I am willing to pay (not looking for a freebie) thats not how I roll!. "Paul from north london"

Shame about only 3.8 watts and less than 400mw on low power. But a lovely set regardless and quite a score for free!
