Without a doubt, she is one of the most successful Somali female Tech engineers!
Fardowsa had worked through a series of positions from Driver Instructor to Black Cab Driver. Although she was energetic and passionate about the work she was doing, she wanted something more fulfilling.
She was referred and encouraged by her brother who is a close friend of Macalin Abdallah, the founder and Managing Director of GlobalNet.
With no prior IT knowledge, Fardowsa started learning with GlobalNet. She enrolled on CompTIA A+ and Network+ at the same time. She then soon progressed to Active Directory and CCNA R&S. On her spare time, she prepared the ITIL foundation and passed the exam within a week. Fardowsa has just finished the CCNA Security course and passed the exam! Fardowsa is currently studying CCNP R&S course at GlobalNet to expand her portfolio and become a candidate for senior network roles.
After less than a year at GlobalNet, Fardowsa landed her first IT job at Lifeways Community Care as IT Service Desk. She left Lifeways just after six months of joining the company! She secured her dream job in Networking with Janus Henderson Investors. A company of more than $300 billion turnover! She now co-manages the network infrastructure of the company in 27 locations worldwide!
She’s admired and respected by everyone from her bosses to her teammates, known for her ability to motivate students, and keep her goals on track. She is an incredibly active and valuable member of the GlobalNet, answering student questions in wide range of topics, conducting mock interviews, helping CCNA students to prepare their exams (Maashaa Allah!).
Eng. Fardowsa believes that GlobalNet was a game changer for her! Her future plans are to gain essential cybersecurity knowledge and become expert in that field.
