Common DOCX Thesis Problems and How to Fix Them
Fix broken numbering, missing images, oversized tables, duplicated headers and other common thesis formatting problems.
Most merge problems begin inside the source documents. The following checks solve many issues before you regenerate the final thesis.
The document opens with a repair warning
Use clean DOCX files, remove macros and avoid interrupted downloads. Regenerate the document rather than repeatedly repairing the same damaged output.
Headings are not numbered correctly
Apply real Word heading styles. Do not rely only on bold text or manually typed prefixes. Verify the chapter number assigned to each uploaded chapter.
An image is missing
Convert unusual image types to PNG or JPEG and insert them normally into Word. Linked images stored outside the DOCX package may not be portable.
A table extends beyond the page
Reduce the number of columns, shorten cell text, use landscape orientation manually for the affected section or divide the table into smaller tables.
Headers are duplicated
Remove old headers and footers from the uploaded chapters. The final formatter profile generates chapter-specific headers and page-number fields.
Formatting looks different from the demo
- Select the correct academic style profile.
- Confirm that the plugin version displayed in the tool is the latest installed version.
- Clear the WordPress, NGINX and browser caches.
- Use the same source heading styles in every chapter.
- Open the result in desktop Word and update fields.
Correct the sources, then regenerate
It is safer than manually repairing every problem in the final document.
