Which is the Best Filesystem in 2024?
Filesystems are the second most important choice we make when deciding on how we want our Linux systems to be setup, gain the most performance, give us the features we need and work with the latest scheduling algorithms that come our way occasionally.
Testing five of the most popular linux filesystems, this is what I found in 2024 running on new hardware and a new linux kernel.
This comparison presented several unique problems
1. New Linux Process Scheduler (EEVDF)
2. New Laptop with an Intel Hybrid chip
3. Significant changes to the performance governor in Linux (because of added Hybrid support)
